LUKOIL RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AWARD

LUKOIL became the first Russian company to receive international Sustainability Innovation Awards for organizing safe drinking water supply for the people who live in the Company's regions of operation in Iraq, Mexico, Uzbekistan and Russia.
Among the implemented projects is the construction of a 210-meter-deep well that was drilled last year and now provides water for about 2,300 inhabitants of El Bellote and some surrounding areas in Central Mexico. Since 2010, the Company has been supporting a bottled water supply programme for residential schools and care centres for elderly people in 9 areas of Uzbekistan. This initiative helps over 2 thousand people. Since the launch of the programme, over 175 tonnes of drinking water have been supplied.
In 2012, the Company launched a project of supplying fresh water to the schools and childcare centres in Basra Province, Iraq. Since that time, about 20 thousand tonnes of drinking water was provided to schools and nurseries across the region.
Over 100 school classes have also been equipped with air-conditioning systems. The project aids in protecting health of 32 thousand kids in 85 education facilities.
As part of its environmental activities, LUKOIL has also contributed to the Federal project "Clean water" in the Republic of Komi, Russia.
Over the five years, drinking water supply systems were created in five settlements, purification facilities were built and modernized. To this day, about 5 thousand locals got access to safe drinking water. This initiative became winner of "Best Social Projects of Russia" contest.
The Company's charity projects fall in line with LUKOIL Group Sustainability Policy and focus on improving social and economic environment in its regions of operation.
