The exhibition “Magical Landscapes”, initiated by the State Tretyakov Gallery with LUKOIL support, opened at Helsinki City Museum of Art on February 19.

Masterpieces of Russian fine art from the Tretyakov Gallery collection are on exhibition. The exhibition consists mostly of landscapes by Russian painters of the late 19th and early 20th century: Repin, Savrasov, Shishkin, Levitan, Aivazovsky and Serov.

LUKOIL maintains long-standing partnership relations with the State Tretyakov Gallery. In 2006, LUKOIL bought a bas-relief by M. Kozlovsky, the famous Russian painter and sculptor, as a gift to the Gallery of the occasion of its 150th anniversary. In 2007, the restoration of a portrait of General Vasily Perovskypainted in 1837 by Karl Briullov, the celebrated Russian painter, was done with OAO LUKOIL support. The return of the canvas was dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Pavel Tretyakov, the founder of the Gallery.

“I am convinced that the exhibition ‘Magical Landscapes’ is going to become a prominent event in the cultural life of Finland and will contribute to further promotion of Russo-Finnish relations”, Nikolay Cherny, OAO LUKOIL Vice President, said at the ceremony of the exhibition opening.
