LUKOIL BACKBONE TOWNS IN WEST SIBERIA CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARIES
Friday, September 11, 2015
A festive ceremony dedicated to the 20th anniversary of OOO LUKOIL-West Siberia and the anniversaries of PJSC LUKOIL’s backbone towns began today in West Siberia. Urai celebrates its 50th anniversary, while Langepas and Kogalym officially turn 30. It was the three oilman towns that the company history dates back to, while the company name is made up of the first letters of their names.
The residents of Urai, the city where the first oil of West Siberia was extracted more than half a century ago, were the first to welcome the guests. Among those taking part in the ceremony were Vagit Alekperov, PJSC LUKOIL President, and Nataya Komarova, acting Governor of Yugra. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Urai was presented with a number of socially important facilities constructed as part of the Social Partnership Agreement between LUKOIL and the government of KhMAO-Yugra: a biathlon center, a children’s health center and a cathedral mosque. After a tour of the new places of interest, the guests laid flowers at the town Memorial with an eternal flame and viewed the work of local craftsmen who displayed their crafts at the square named after the Shaim oilfield discoverers.
The anniversary celebrations will continue on September 12, when the honored guests will offer their congratulations to the residents of Langepas and Kogalym.
