LUKOIL COMMISSIONS SOLAR POWER PLANT IN KAZAKHSTAN
Thursday, September 26, 2024
LUKOIL put into operation a 2 MW solar power plant in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan. The facility will provide the lubricants plant that belongs to LUKOIL Lubricants Central Asia Ltd. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of PJSC LUKOIL) with environmentally friendly solar energy.
To maximize power generation efficiency, the photovoltaic modules of the plant were installed on tracker structures that can rotate, following the sun.
The use of solar energy generated at the facility for the needs of the lubricants plant will allow it to buy less power, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In September 2019, LUKOIL opened a lubricants plant in Kazakhstan. The facility is able to manufacture up to 100 thousand tonnes of products per year.
