Thursday, October 4, 2012
Vagit Alekperov, OAO LUKOIL President, Jyrki Raina, General Secretary of the IndustriALL Global Union (IndustriALL), Lev Mironov, Chairman of the Russian Oil, Gas and Construction Workers’ Union (ROGWU), and Georgy Kiradiev, Chairman of the Council for International Association of LUKOIL Trade Union Organizations (OAO LUKOIL IATUO), signed an Information Cooperation Agreement, in Moscow today.
As part of the Agreement, the parties confirm their adherence to the principles of the UNO Global Initiative, as well as to the fundamental labor and environmental principles set forth in the UNO Conventions and those of the International Labor Organization.
The Agreement seeks to improve the industrial relations and development of efficient approaches towards production within the LUKOIL Group organizations operating on a global scale.
LUKOIL and IndustriALL also acknowledge the importance of the health and well-being of their personnel and share responsibility for the impact that may be produced by the production or other practical activities by LUKOIL Group organizations upon the natural and human environment.
The Agreement is valid for one year and will be extended for the following year, unless there is a desire by the parties to terminate it.
The IndustriALL Global Union was founded on June 19, 2012 as a result of the merger of the International Metalworkers' Federation (IMF), the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Unions (ICEM) and the International Textile, Garment and Leather Workers' Federation (ITGLWF).
Currently, the IndustriALL represents the interests of 50 million workers in the mining, fuel and energy and light industries in 140 countries of the world.
The former Cooperation Agreement between ICEM, ROGWU, IATUO and OAO LUKOIL, signed in May of 2004, ceased to be effective.
