LUKOIL PLEDGES COOPERATION TO MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING COMPANY
Friday, January 23, 2015
LUKOIL has begun supplies of cylinder oils of a new generation, LUKOIL NAVIGO 100 MCL, to MSC OSCAR, the world’s largest container ship, acquired by the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) earlier this year. The container ship is capable of holding a record number of containers, 19,224 pieces. It is equipped with fuel-saving engines operating on LUKOIL’s new oils.
As part of the agreement, LUKOIL will supply 15,000 tons of lubes to MSC before the end of 2015, thus providing more than 100 heavy-tonnage vessels with high-quality marine oils.
Currently, MSC is constructing 20 more container ships, also the world’s largest, to be supplied with LUKOIL’s marine oils. Besides, they will be equipped with iCOlube, an intelligent cylinder-lubricating system developed by LUKOIL. The total number of vessels owned by MSC is 468.
“We have become the main oil supplier to one of the world’s largest shipping companies, thus proving our ability to satisfy the global needs of ship owners with any fleet count. Furthermore, as a hi-tech company, we have again reiterated LUKOIL’s undeniable leadership in terms of marine oils and lubes and we would like to express our gratitude to our partners for their loyalty in choosing the revolutionary iCOlube system for the most cutting-edge and technically equipped ships of the Mediterranean Shipping Company,” Maksim Donde, General Director of OOO LLK-International, said.
“The top management of the Mediterranean Shipping Company highly appreciates the undeniable technical supremacy of LUKOIL in the production of new-generation marine oils. I am absolutely content with the choice of the marine-oil supplier for our company,” Pasquale Formisano, Senior Vice President of the Mediterranean Shipping Company, noted.
