Friday, August 24, 2018
A summer camp in the city of Anapa in Russia's Krasnodar Region welcomed first campers from among children of indigenous peoples of the North. Their stay in the camp is sponsored by LUKOIL as part of the Arctic Talents project, an all-Russia cultural and educational initiative organized by the RF Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs.
The first camp session is timed to coincide with the International Year of Indigenous Languages, announced by the UN General Assembly for 2019. LUKOIL is a member of the steering committee which is responsible for events slated in Russia as part of the UN Year.
The 21-day-long camp session, set for children of primary and lower secondary schools, includes special educational programs for talented children: Magic Brush, Arctic Mascot, Native Melodies and Meadow of Miracles. Special emphasis is put on the mother tongues of indigenous groups of the North.
