PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN RECEIVES HEAD OF LUKOIL

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, received Vagit Alekperov, head of LUKOIL Company, today in the city of Nur-Sultan. The parties discussed ongoing projects in Kazakhstan involving LUKOIL, as well as a number of promising projects that could boost cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in fuel and energy sphere. President of LUKOIL thanked the Kazakhstan leader for regular dialogue and support of foreign investors. He also expressed interest in expanding LUKOIL's presence in the country (including new exploration projects) and in developing partnership with JSC NC KazMunayGas.
LUKOIL is a long-term partner of Kazakhstan. The Company participates in four hydrocarbon exploration and production projects: Karachaganak (13.5%), Tengiz (5%), Zhenis (50%), and Al Farabi (49.9%). It is also involved in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium oil transportation project and is a part of joint ventures created to develop the Khvalynskoye and Tsentralnoye fields. In 2019, LUKOIL commissioned a lubricants plant with annual production capacity of 100 thousand tonnes in Kazakhstan.
LUKOIL's investments into projects in the country exceed $10 billion.
In the end of 2021, LUKOIL signed principles agreement on Kalamkas-Sea and Khazar project, thus becoming Kazakhstan's strategic partner in development of these large fields. At the moment, a joint task group of Russian and Kazakhstan specialists elaborates the details and terms of further partnership with respect to development of the fields.
During his visit to Kazakhstan, Vagit Alekperov also met with Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of the Republic.
