TIME CAPSULE INSERTED INTO FOUNDATION OF NEW BUILDINGS OF LUKOIL HEADQUARTERS IN MOSCOW
Monday, September 6, 2010
Vagit Alekperov, OAO LUKOIL President, inserted a time capsule today into the foundation of new buildings under construction at the corporate headquarters in Moscow.
As previously reported, the initial construction work at the new facility started at the end of February of 2010.
The buildings will be located at a site with an area of 0.73 hectares, between Kostyansky and Ulansky lanes, in the immediate vicinity of the current LUKOIL corporate headquarters on Sretensky Boulevard.
The total area of the new buildings will be 44.8 thousand square meters. They will have a sophisticated form with an alternating number of floors (4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 floors) which will form a new complex of two buildings linked to each other, and to the existing group of buildings, by a passage on the second-floor level. The new complex will include an underground parking for 225 cars.
The construction design for the group of new buildings was developed by the state unitary enterprise Information and Technology Center of Moskomarkhitektura.
AO NORDEO is the general contractor for construction work on the project.
The construction is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Fragments of a wooden structure were discovered during excavation work for the foundation. In accordance with the development rules in the historic part of Moscow, archeologists were immediately invited to the construction site. In the course of two weeks they conducted necessary excavations. During the excavation work, household utensils were discovered, tentatively age-dated to the mid-18th century. According to the archeologists, these articles do not have any historical value.
“When planning the project, the Company’s priority was the seamless inclusion of the new buildings into the existing architectural image of the central part of the city”, Mr. Alekperov commented.
