LUKOIL REPORTS ON RESULTS OF ENVIRONMENT RESTORATION WORKS FOLLOWING LOSS OF PIPING INTEGRITY AT OSHSKOYE FIELD

{ 2/3/2022 4:22:45 PM }

At the conference held by Scientific and Technical Council of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor), LUKOIL presented report on recovery works following last year's loss of piping integrity at the Oshskoye field (located at the border between the Nenetsky Autonomous District and the Komi Republic), as well as on results of ecosystem restoration and extra environment security measures.

The restoration work were completed in full, as confirmed by the act of interagency commission that examined the river over the period between October 5 and 7, 2021. During the warm season of 2022, the Company will undertake biological recultivation in the area, including planting of perennial grasses.

After clean-up campaign and assessment of the situation, the company took a number of measures to improve its safe work practices. For instance, it introduced a permanent protection system for the Kolva River in the Usinsk urban district. The system has the form of controllable cascade construction made up of fortified float lines. Increasing number of pipelines are being reconstructed, replaced and repaired. Greater attention is given to fields and production facilities monitoring via air drones and remote systems.

In 2022, cutting-edge technologies will be applied to carry out scientific assessment and research of the state of the environment at the Kolva riverbanks and water body, including bottom sediments. Leaders of the field will take part in this assessment: V.V. Dokuchaev Soil Science Institute and Tomsk State University.
